HISTORY

  • Built in fulfillment of the vow made in Fátima by the Portuguese episcopate, asking God to free Portugal from the Second World War

  • In 1934, on a visit to RJ, the Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon was inspired by Christ the Redeemer

  • It opened in 1959

  • It is 82 meters high.
