IMPORTANT TIPS
HANG ON!!!
WHAT TO SEE
Only the ruins remain of the Castle, and the visit is mainly a walk along the steps along the walls. If you have any mobility problems, I don't recommend visiting.

HISTORY
Traces of settlement since the 17th century. 10ac
Built by the Moors in the 8th century, as that region provided the land connection between Lisbon, Cascais and Mafra
In the Middle Ages, bodies were buried with a coin to pay for passage to the afterlife.
In 1147 it was voluntarily handed over to D. Afonso Henriques
No king paid any importance to the castle, which fell into decay.
Only in sec. 19, D. Fernando II made small investments, which at least stopped the advance of degradation
The Church of São Pedro de Canaferrim is from the 12th century, built by D. Afonso Henriques.
